Glories of the past -- some of the buildings that survived the Second World War

The street where my mother grew up -- in its hey-day.

The same place today -- but note the old chestnut trees, marking where the street used to be.

Hunting for my grandfather's grave, in Wroclaw's "new" Jewish cemetery ...

For the first time in more than 70 years, a relative visits the grave. It had been totally hidden by ivy.

The Schiesswerder entertainment palace and beer garden where Jewish deportees were taken prior to being shipped to Lithuania to be shot.

The power station that now occupies the same site.
